A little bit about me

Esme was born in Dorset and has lived in the county all of her life leaving only for a short time to live in Sydney, Australia to work for international charity Greenpeace. Esme studied Textiles, Fashion Design and Marketing at Arts University Bournemouth and Art and Design at Bournemouth and Poole College. After graduating Esme undertook a successful career in Arts Marketing & PR and professional Fundraising for international & national charities.

Esme’s first collection of her signature blue, acrylic paintings on canvas, launched in 2012 inspired by moonlit scenes of the Jurassic Coast and Isle of Purbeck. Esme launched her successful Art & Gift Studio in 2016 located in the idyllic setting of Creech at the foot of the Purbeck Hills. This gave Esme not only a space and place to paint but to exhibit her work and to follow her dream of setting up a gallery by showcasing the work of other local artists and makers.

Esme’s passion for the area that she has grown up in is evident in her work, thriving on her imaginative use of strong vivid colours, along with her bold interpretation of the geological shape and form of the landscape and coastline. The Jurassic Coast and Isle of Purbeck is her constant muse and continues to provide her with a wealth of ideas for her work. Esme’s fascination of working with a strong palette of blues continues, whilst she explores other palettes including orange and grey.

On leaving her role in 2018 as Head of Publicity for Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Esme was able to commit to her lifelong ambition of further developing her career in Art & Design. This year also marked the engagement to her partner Jason Cameron, bespoke furniture designer and maker, and the move from the Art & Gift Studio into her new studio and gallery located in the Isle of Purbeck.

The creative duo have many exciting joint design ventures, including the development of their Cedar clad barn nestled in the Isle of Purbeck where they both work and which they have designed and built together. They also run a successful bespoke interior design service for private and commercial clients and are highly recommend for their outstanding service and attention to detail. Within their Cedar clad barn, Esme’s working art studio and Jason’s bespoke furniture workshop is open to the public, as well as Grange Gallery, their joint collaboration where they showcase their own work alongside the work of other contemporary artists and makers.

Esme and Jason are both available for private and commercial commissions please contact for further information.
